Georgia’s catching up on something long overdue: giving everyone a common map they can use and trust. The Geospatial Information Office (GIO) exists to help make that happen—by facilitating collaboration, offering shared services, and supporting efforts to spatially enable Georgia for better planning, public safety, and resilience.
In this session, we’ll talk about the building blocks of the basemap—including critical elements like imagery, elevation, addresses, and roads—and the collaborative partnerships across public and private sectors that are making it possible. Whether your community has deep GIS capacity or just a deep need, there’s a role for you in shaping and using the basemap. Come hear what’s happening at the state level, and let us know what you need so we can better support efforts like floodplain management, emergency response, and beyond.
Presenter: Susan Miller, Geospatial Information Officer, Georgia Geospatial Information Office
