2D Base Level Engineering Models Assist the State of Georgia with Hurricane Helene Post-Disaster Recovery

Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida's Big Bend region as a Category 4 storm on September 26, 2024, bringing devastation to many parts of the Southest United States. Many communities along Georgia's fall-line were impacted by Hurricane Helene. Fortunately, the majority of the basins along the storm's path had 2D Rain-on-Grid Base Level Engineering (BLE) models available through Georgia's CTP Program that could be leveraged to simulate the actual event and aid in post-storm response efforts. The results were published through an online mapping viewer to help Local and Federal stakeholders quickly funnel resources to areas that likely experienced moderate to severe flooding.
